Come in! Come in!

"If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a Hope-er, a Pray-er, a Magic Bean buyer; if you're a pretender, come sit by my fire. For we have some flax-golden tales to spin. Come in! Come in!" -- Shel Silverstein

Hooray for the Irish!

Take a few minutes to watch this brilliant commercial for marriage equality from Ireland which makes it crystal clear (as only the Irish can), that putting the question of marriage on the ballot is not only ludicrous, but it's offensive as hell.

Even so, as the time for the marriage equality vote comes closer in New Jersey and New York, the Roman Catholic Church is ramping up their efforts here to "defend marriage".

The irony is not lost that a bunch of dried up old men who have never been married, many of whom are, by their own definition, "intrinsically disordered" (they might be but LGBT people, de facto, most assuredly are not) and have (at least) taken a vow of celibacy think they need to defend marriage from LGBT people.

Perhaps their energy would be better served if these guys put their efforts to 'defend / save' marriage' into an effort to ban divorce.

Yeah, like that might ever happen. Makes too much sense. And, it doesn't 'save / defend' the purposes of patriarchy, which is really their deep, abiding commitment.

Sigh. Never mind.

Meanwhile, watch this clip. I don't have Irish eyes, but this sure made them smile.
